Nepalese poet Chandra Gurung has come up as a translator with a collection of Palestinian poems in Nepali titled ‘जहाँ आमाहरु कहिल्यै निदाउँदैनन्’ literally meaning “Where the Mothers Never Sleep”.
The book has been published in Nepal and India simultaneously. According to Gurung, it is published by Indigo Ink Publication in Nepal and Laliguras Publication in India.
The anthology consists of 80 poems by famous 39 Palestinian poets. The collection contains poems of old and new poets such as world-renowned Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, Ghasan Kanafani, Muin Basso, Fauji al-Assar, Samih al-Qasim, Taufiq Jayad, Tamim Al-Baraghouti, Fady Joudah etc.
These poems are based mainly on Palestinian fights for the rights of their native land. Though they express agony, anger, poverty, suppression, hunger, nostalgia and struggle, they do not lose their hope.
