Welcome to Polismagazino.gr. Introduce the band in few words.
IVAN: Stealth is an Italian metal band from Corridonia, Marche, Italy. We released several albums and EPs and performed all over Italy and in many other European countries.
When did you start as a band?
IVAN: Just after me and Daniele formed the first line up of Metal Militia during spring 1997, Lorenzo Pimpini (guitars) and Roberto Rastelli (drums) joined us at the beginning of the following year. This has been the line up until summer 2000. We changed name into Stealth during spring 2000 while the original line up was still in place. We commonly agreed to change name because at that time we felt like we were to closely associated with Metallica and even though we were at that time performing few Metallica songs, we already released 2 EPs of our own music. So we changed into Stealth to avoid people thinking we were just a cover band.
What is your first musical memory?
IVAN: I used to listen to good music since I was a child. My parents had a lot of Italian musicians and songwriters LPs and I started with them. Also, my grandfather was an exceptional accordion player and I often attended to his live gigs. In our region (Le Marche, in the centre of Italy) there are a lot of folk and ‘sagra’ festivals during the summertime, during which he used to play.
My first steps into the world of rock happened when I was eleven. My cousin gave me a cassette of Queen and at the same time some of my school friends introduced me to the music of Guns ‘n Roses.
Who are the members of the band?
Ivan Lattanzi – Vocals/Guitars/Gtr Synth/DJ
Daniele Gorbini – Bass/Background vocals
Michele Cipolletta – Drums
Marco Guadagnoli – Guitars/Synth/Background Vocals
Describe to us your career in music to date. Were there any decisive positive or negative influences?
IVAN: We started writing and recording our own music just after we formed the band. There have obviously been ups and downs during all these years but we have more positive than negative memories during this long journey. We remember our tours in Latvia, Ukraine and Northern Europe during the 10s and 2017 which marked our gigs in the UK and Eastern Europe. We also remember the recording sessions of our first records, when the airiness dictated by our young age made sure that everything was pure fun.
We passed through difficult moments too, especially when we changed some member of the band or when we have been forced to cancel some of our gigs here in Italy or abroad. These situations have always a negative impact within the band that can last for a long time.
Are you “scared” by success or failure?
IVAN: Not at all. It’s part of the game and we have to face with it. Sometimes it’s a success, sometimes it’s not. That’s it!
Tell us a few words about your latest release
IVAN: We just released a live EP recorded in London last May. There are 5 songs taken from our live performance at Renaissance Alternative Music Festival, an amazing underground event full of fantastic bands and artists in general. The EP is titled ‘Renaissance After Death’, it’s only in digital format so it’s available on all major music platforms.
Who edits the lyrics and music?
IVAN: I usually write the lyrics and after a certain song is ready to be recorded I fix them in terms of metrics and possible rhymes. About the music we don’t have a precise way to do it. Sometimes I start recording a riff and then the other members add their parts and when all these parts are recorded our guitarist Marco edits them and does a first raw mix of the song.
What are your future music plans?
IVAN: We are working on a concept split album together with some bands of our label NMTCG. We have always new material to work on so probably we’ll start the recordings of a new album soon. Our second album ‘Check This Out!’ recently marked its 20th anniversary and a remastered version of the album together with some rare material recorded during those years will be available soon on the major digital stores. We have some gigs to play at the beginning of this year and hopefully more dates will be added on our 2025 calendar.
