Poor Piano Moaned with A Melody By Hillol Ray

Amid the celebrations of my birthday today,

The stars went out and so did the icy moon-

The crooners stopped playing the music,

And quickly decided to go to bed soon!

The syncopated tunes of old saxophone

Rocked back and forth just to carry on-

But the guests and audiences in “Milestone”

Thinned out and mostly have already gone!

The dull pallor of a gas light on Riviera Court,

Felt very drowsy with evening’s elapse of time-

And the poor piano on my wife’s mystic hands,

Moaned with a melody and drifted with chime!

I tried to sway to and fro fast as a birthday boy,

And pretended to present me as a musical fool-

But the luminous guests were too wise to assess,

And slowly they began to get up from the stool!

Somehow the music dripped in my ears,

Like the nectars of grapes in a wine jar-

And I heard the coffee-cups were clashing,

While crooner played chords from his car!

Weary blues echoed through audience head,

Far into the late night of my birthday bash-

And the silver moon watched my jubilances,

That can’t be bought even with million cash!!

A Rained-On Bee By Hillol Ray

The alien sky sang the solo waves of light,

And my heart opened like a flowing river-

But the tunes the sky danced to, day and night,

Caused the hapless reapers of world a shiver!

Transfigured into images with intertwined visions,

My old emotional senses rolled eastward with sun-

And the pauses of singing sky faded in moonlights,

As I watched the dancing water of fountain for fun!

Carelessly bearing off the ghostly shadows of a music,

A large train of thoughts within thoughts seem to go by-

And beautiful stars and planets keep my eyes moving,

While smeary dreary dialogues contemplate under sky!

On a tapestry of life, I feel like a rained-on bee,

Who prefers wine-like song, drenched with rain-

And my Gypsy heart gets choked with cool ashes of love,

But needs to pour music to relieve the pallid Earth’s pain!

A thrush of music sleeps below a goose-down pillow,

Over a Rhine stone that holds it from a turbulent sea-

And mist from the ground veils the ambience,

Against the moon to fade the happiness key!

Out of fear, I shake up and rise like the flooded rivers,

And stand up like a musician on stage to sing forever-

While the love pierces into my human sheathing so loudly,

From the audience offering claps that seem to stop never!!
