BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF HILLOL RAY
Hillol Ray, D.Litt., Ph.D. (Honoris Causa), Poet Laureate, Author, Song Writer, Translator, and Multilinguist, is a Civil-Structural-Environmental Engineer, with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Dallas, Texas. Born and raised in a suburb of Kolkata, India, he received letters of personal compliments for his innovative thoughts and poems from the former U.S. President Bill Clinton, the former U.S. Vice President and Nobel Peace Laureate Al Gore, Jr., the former U.S. EPA Administrator Ms. Lisa P. Jackson, the Cousteau Society President Madame Francine Cousteau (wife of world-renowned Oceanographer Jacques Yves Cousteau) of Paris, France, and Mother Teresa of Kolkata, India.
In 2006, he received the NFIA (National Federation of Indian American Association) Award in Liberal and Fine Arts from Long Beach, California. His biography has appeared in “500 Leaders of Science”, “International Directory of Distinguished Leadership” – both published by the American Biographical Institute (ABI) in North Carolina, U.S.A. and in many other biographical books, including International Biographical Centre (IBC) from Cambridge, United Kingdom. Nationally and internationally interviewed, his works have been published in magazines, and anthologies around the world. In February 2018, he was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by the Marquis Who’s Who of New Jersey, U.S.A. He is listed in Who’s Who in Asian-American, Marquis Who’s in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World.

The Flute By Hillol Ray
The flute of life plays music
From the moment we are born-
But no one knows when music will stop,
Or heart will be torn!
Accumulation of wealth is the desire of many,
But its loss is sad indeed-
While the loss of health will slow down the flute,
No matter how we try to feed!
Selling one’s soul to the devil of addictions
May bring a short-term fun-
But the devotion to God through flute of life
Will sing, ever after life is gone!!
