MY 10TH Epic poem
Foreword by Dr Tamali Neogi
This epic relates to Oedipus and Indian legendary hero Puran Bhagat.
The epic deals with both stories simultaneously and …
The Last Episode shows both Oedipus and Puran in converse
A story which shows how suffering can be alleviated and transcended by the spiritual power as epitomized in Puran
Oedipus kills his father, Puran was killed by his father. …..and so on….There is Jocasta. Here is Luna
Here is a piece for tasting the Epic poem
CYNIC
[Here we are at the cross roads
Where two roads meet,
And here,
The Cynic talks about
The Con-fusion [read fusion]
Of the two stories of Oedipus and Puran]
The two young men
Had they ever willed?
One will be sent
To an underground cell,
The other, ordered out to be killed?
When oracles interpret
The human fate
And try to tell
What will happen date to date,
Why they keep it a secret
Why they do not share
Why fate that strikes Oedipus
Is most tragic, and most unfair?
And why Puran,
The beautiful young Prince
Is abandoned by the king
To grow in a cell,
Living on minimums bare?
I have grave concern
And doubts dense,
Why fate maintains
This unholy suspense.
What makes gods carry
Loads of anger
Which they ought to expend
On men, like Oedipus,
Who can neither offend, nor defend.
And Puran, the Prince,
Too gets no chance to defend himself
Before he is lifted from his mother’s lap
And sent to an underground cell.
