Despotidis Dimosthenis – Dimitrios a Year 12 student, of the British International school of Athens, Campion, has recently published his first poetic compilation under the title ‘’Searching for my footsteps’’, not only in the Greek but in the English language as well.
In 2019, Dimosthenis won the 1st position in the International Poetry Competition of the ‘’Never Such Innocence Foundation’’ in London, among 4.000 participantsfrom 44 countries, with his poem under the title ‘’Inspirational poem’’. Officially he became an NSI Ambassador.
In 2021, he won a Honorary Distinction from the Literacy Union of the Writers of Northern Greece within the framework of the completion of 200 years since the Revolution commenced, with his poem ‘’Thoughts of life’’.
During the presentation of the Greek edition, on the 9th of October in the Hall of the Athenian Association in Plaka, in a very warm and pleasant atmosphere, Dimosthenis has been announced Literature Director of the International Action Art, an international organization with 47 countries department worldwide by Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, the President of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands and General President of IAA. This is the youngest director, but at the same time a very promising one. Mr. Skiadas Eleftherios, the president of the Athenian Association, one of the oldest and most historic Associations of Athens, announced that Dimosthenis would be an exofficio member of the Athenian Association.
During the presentation of the English edition, under the title ‘‘Searching for my footsteps’’, on the 17th of December, in the Museum of Philhellenism he was givena Honorary prize from the Museum of Philhellenism and the Society for Hellenism and Philhellenism for his dedication to perfection and for his creative spirit as well.
Recently, in a touching atmosphere, he addressed the poetic compilation of ‘’Vaios Fasoulas’’, that was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in particular, the General Secretary of Public Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ioannis Chrysoylakis. Dimosthenis was announced as Honorary member of theUnion of Literary Writers of the five Continents, based in Argentina.
He is an Ambassador of Mil Mentes Por Mexico Internacional and Ontimebooks Latino, as well as of the Redex Children and Youth Network. In April 2022 he took part in the World Summit of Children and Young Leaders Enterpreneurs for Peace in Mexico.
He has also received the COBIS Student Achievement Award for 2022 representing his school – CAMPION SCHOOL – (from 250 nominations from 93 schools worldwide)regarding his significant contribution to the wider community.
He has taken part in various competitions in Greece and Abroad on a constant basis.
He speaks four languages, English, Greek, French and Spanish.
