Bio: I am Dima Politova, a poet from Plovdiv, Bulgaria. I have published twelve books with poetry and essays. My latest book is titled “On the curves of the Soul”. My poems have been published in the IPF almanacs ”Spirituality without Borders” and in literaty websites in Bulgaria and abroad. I am a member of the Union of Independent Writers, Bulgaria. Before retiring I worked with children and students as a teacher and educator.
Please share your thoughts about the future of literature. When did you start writing? For me the future of literature are the writers and poets. Bulgarian writers are at the height of the historical and artistic demands that time has made on them. Many of them have been translated into foreign languages and are world famous. In my opinion, the problems writers in our country face come from the way the market for book publishing functions, and the lack of adequate laws in this area. Writers are forced to find a way to distribute their books on their own, because they are obliged to pay a large a percentage of the selling price to the bookstores. Almost 40 % of the final price goes in the pocket of the bookstores. I think this problem can be settled only with the intervention of the state. I started writing in 2007. I love writing free verse poetry, but I also write prose, mainly essays and fragments. My main influences are the beloved Bulgarian poets Peyo Yavorov and Dimcho Debelyanov, and of course the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature Ivan Vazov. I love reading Shakespeare’s Sonnets and the poetry of Robert Burns.
“Words fly away, what is written remains”
The Good and the Bad. Who is winning in nowadays? Many of the literary works highlight good and evil, love and hate – today is the time an opportunity to have a right choice of people who love their country and their land. For me, my country is my home and destiny, hope that I am ripe for her, for her waters, and her green magic.
How many books have you written and where can we find your books? I started publishing in 2008, and since then I have published 12 books. The latest one, titled “On the curves of the soul” was released in December 2022. My books are published in the city of Plovdiv, where I live – they are in white and free verse and poetic prose about human intimacy and feelings, trust and touching confession. I also write and publish poems, essays, miniatures, unwritten notes, fragments, monologues It is in Plovdiv where I read and meet with my fellow poets. My books are available in the The National Library “Ivan Vazov” in Plovdiv, and in the library clubs in the city. I also publish my poems on my Facebook page, many literary websites, and in periodicals and newspapers.
The book. E book or Hardcover book What will be the future? The feeling when touching a book, feeling it in my hands, and against my chest is wonderful. Yet the policy of bookstores to take a high percentage from the authors, made the distribution of books almost impossible.
A wish for 2023. A phrase from your book. To the autors – to be healthy, to look at life with delight, to be fiery and clean.
Phrase: I love luxury – in the word, in the gesture, in the whisper…
