Author Haroon Rashid: WE ARE NOT SEPERATE

Επιμέλεια: Εύα Πετροπούλου Λιανού

There is a silence that exists
beyond language,
a stillness where no borders breathe,
where no names are asked,
only presence felt.

Peace is not a treaty,
nor the absence of noise,
but the soft recognition
that your sorrow echoes in my chest,
and my joy dances in your eyes.

We were never strangers.
Only mirrors covered in dust,
each of us carrying the whole sky
in the curve of our ribcage,
each heartbeat a thread
sewn into the same cosmic fabric.

I have walked through temples,
mosques, churches, and forests,
and found the same hush
resting between prayers and leaves.

Call it God.
Call it Love.
Call it the quiet after a child’s laughter,
but it is One.

When I hold your hand,
I am holding the universe
in its most sacred form.

Let us not divide the sunlight
by nation, by race, by creed,
for the sun does not choose
who it warms.

Let us return
to the beginning of all beginnings,
when we were not “I” and “You”
but Us.

A single breath,
a single flame,
a single note in the grand song
of existence.
