Ahmed Miqdad: “Like an iceberg”

I’m pretending to be strong
In front of my weak children
Who suffer from the displacement
And the everywhere smell of death
Who count the warplanes in the sky
Instead of counting the glamorous stars.
While I’m internally  melting like an iceberg
Without noticing my silent suffering.

I’m pretending to be strong
To show my children
That I’m their fortified shelter.
They don’t know
I’m weaker than they think
And I need the protection myself
From the brutal army
And the heavy bombs
That worn the soft bodies
Of fathers, mothers and children
While I’m collapsing like a skyscraper
And the world is enjoying my tragic end.

I’m pretending to be strong
Infront of my children
When they got frightened
From the sounds of rockets
And the buzzing drones,
When I look to their innocent eyes
And think about their unknown tomorrow,
While I’m crying during darkness
Till tears submerge my eyes
And flood on the shore of the sea
Whereas humanity swims in the Palestinian bloods.
