GOOD BYE
A saga of
shared laughter
those never ending
conversations about nothing
drenching in the rain like crazy
bursting into laughter for no reason
your childish possessive behaviour
being rude to others
just because they wished to be my friend
watching late night movies
reading poems
eating Chinese at your favourite restaurant
going for small holidays
travelling together
just to be with each other
meeting and staying the night
at a friend’s house
and talk through the night
those letters we wrote with such intensity
those long distance calls
all have become our past
a record of
historical old fashioned friendship
and now after decades
we have not only drifted apart
we are torn apart
we do not talk
you have learnt to hurt
and I have learnt to pretend
that I am not hurt
and I don’t give a damn
when you refuse to respond
to my messages
or do not pick up
the phone when I call
now I really know
what a heart never forgets
I never wished to make you my past
or part of my memories
those innocent friendships
were meant to last a lifetime
if not more
and yet we are growing
without being part
of the journey called life
I may die tomorrow
or someday I am not sure how soon
or you may depart this planet
before me or after me
there are no bridges
which can bring you back to me
though I am capable of doing
the impossible you know fully well
but you have turned into a stone wall
a closed unbreakable iron door
I will never be able to cross
I will accept your decision
to break my heart
I will live and love you forever
thought of finally saying
goodbye to you.
