AS WE JOURNEY ALONG THESE TRAILS
Underneath the heavens, a deep darkness,
We follow the trails created by time
Every movement is a sign, every inhale a gasp
The earth chills under our atmosphere
The earth below, fractures, it moans
It murmurs about fractured bones
Dreams once cherished are now a distant memory,
As hope fades away
Of hearts that suffered but stayed strong
The trees are silent, with all their leaves shredded
The winds, like spirits, eternally weep
In this place where darkness lurks,
We awaken to discover the history and refuse to rest
The paths we walk on are steep and well-used
Adorned with thorns, embellished with jagged stones
Every corner conceals a passing gleam
However, we continue to stroll through the darkness
Oh, how we seek comfort in that place
In every step, in every prayer
Still, we discover, with tired gazes
Paths that disappear and skies that sink
Time passes, showing the marks it leaves behind
We pursue the dream of faraway stars
However, ultimately, what do we discover?
Only routes that conclude, and restrict hearts
Despite feeling tired and disoriented,
We continue to move forward
Despite rain and frost, despite love and cost,
Even though the night might take away the daylight,
These roads we traverse, we cannot wander from.

About the Author: Dr. Brajesh Kumar Gupta, known by the pen name “Mewadev,” is a distinguished luminary in the literary world. In 2023, he received the esteemed “APOLLON SIRMIENSIS” International Award in Serbia, alongside a special postage stamp issued by the state of Birland in his honour. His remarkable achievements include the prestigious Presidency of the International Prize De Finibus Terrae, dedicated to the memory of Maria Monteduro in Italy, and honorary doctorates in Literature from notable institutions in Serbia and Brazil.
As the III° Secretary-General of the World Union of Poets for 2024, a role he has embraced since December 30, 2017, Dr. Brajesh leads with vision and passion. His pen name, “Mewadev,” is a heartfelt representation of his parents, Mewa Lal Gupta and Devrati Gupta.
A prolific writer, he has authored ten books and edited twenty-eight, while also serving as the principal of S. K. Mahavidyalaya in Jaitpur, Mahoba (U.P., India).
