AGAIN THE SAME SOFT ROMANCE
Again the same soft romance
With the same person.
But with a fresh touch of
Life’s exact desire.
Experience of grey hair
With a mix match of restless
immature teenage unsolved
uncontrolled oscillation.
Here to there or there to here
With a pattern of zigzag.
A desire to dance before
the end of romantic music.
To live life without
any restricted survival strategy.
Some twinkling sparkle
in life’s evening sky.
A dazzle before dark.
Lotion to the oozing wound .
Potion to the sobbing heart.
An emotional lyric to life’s
Puzzled deals, with unsourced
seals that flows out from the grip.
Assurance of everything going to
be fine with some liberated feelings.
Erases grief and sorrow, presenting
Life’s desirable happiness when
Heart smiles softly with a whisper
“Is there any other option than the
same soft romance with the same
person?”.

ANALYSIS
The poem explores the enduring nature of love, particularly in the context of a long-term relationship. It delves into the complexities of aging and the ways in which love can evolve and adapt over time. The poet uses vivid imagery to convey the nuances of the relationship. The “fresh touch of life’s exact desire” suggests a renewed passion, while the “mix match of restless immature teenage unsolved uncontrolled oscillation” hints at the underlying turmoil and uncertainty that can coexist with love. The “twinkling sparkle in life’s evening sky” and “dazzle before dark” evoke a sense of beauty and fleetingness associated with aging.
The poem is free verse, lacking a fixed rhyme scheme or meter. This allows for a more conversational and natural flow, reflecting the intimate nature of the subject matter. The use of repetition, particularly in the opening and closing lines, emphasizes the cyclical nature of the relationship. The overall tone is one of nostalgia, longing, and contentment. There is a sense of bittersweet reflection on the past and a hopeful outlook for the future. The “same soft romance” with the “same person” serves as a symbol of enduring love and commitment. The “grey hair” and “restless immature teenage unsolved uncontrolled oscillation” represent the contrasting aspects of aging and youthful energy within the relationship.
Overall, “Again the Same Soft Romance” is a poignant exploration of love, loss, and renewal. It offers a hopeful message about the enduring nature of human connection and the possibility of finding joy and fulfillment even in the face of life’s inevitable changes. -WILLIAMSJI MAVELI
