“Ali and Nino” – a novel authored by “Kurban Said”, tells about the love of the Muslim Azerbaijani Ali Khan Shirvanshir and the Christian Georgian Nino Kipiani. The action in the novel takes place in the Caucasus against the backdrop of the events of the First World War. The book is a search for ways to understand and reconcile Islam and Christianity, East and West. Most of the events of the novel take place in the Old City of Baku (Icheri-Sheher) and near it at the beginning of the 20th century.
The main character of the novel, Ali Khan Shirvanshir, is a descendant of the ancient aristocratic family of the Shirvanshirs. While studying at a Baku gymnasium, Ali Khan meets the daughter of the Georgian prince Nino Kipiani and falls in love with her. Through his love for the Georgian princess Nino, who was raised in the Christian tradition, Ali draws ever closer to the European world.
The novel ends with Ali Khan forcing Nino to take their daughter and leave for Tiflis. But Ali Khan himself remains in Ganja, not wanting to leave his homeland in difficult times. During the fighting on the Ganja Bridge, he dies. Nino’s fate remains unknown.

“Ali y Nino”, una novela escrita por “Kurban Said”, habla sobre el amor del musulmán azerbaiyano Ali Khan Shirvanshir y el cristiano georgiano Nino Kipiani. La acción de la novela se desarrolla en el Cáucaso en el contexto de los acontecimientos de la Primera Guerra Mundial. El libro es una búsqueda de formas de comprender y reconciliar el Islam y el cristianismo, Oriente y Occidente.
La mayoría de los acontecimientos de la novela tienen lugar en la ciudad vieja de Bakú (Icheri-Sheher) y sus alrededores a principios del siglo XX. El personaje principal de la novela, Ali Khan Shirvanshir, es descendiente de la antigua familia aristocrática de los Shirvanshir. Mientras estudiaba en un gimnasio de Bakú, Ali Khan conoce a la hija del príncipe georgiano Nino Kipiani y se enamora de ella. “Али и Нино“ — роман, под авторством “Курбана Саида“, рассказывает о любви азербайджанца-мусульманина Али хана Ширваншира и грузинки-христианки Нино Кипиани. Действие в романе разворачивается на Кавказе на фоне событий Первой мировой войны. Книга представляет собой поиск путей к пониманию и примирению ислама и христианства, Востока и Запада. Большая часть событий романа происходит в Старом городе Баку (Ичери-Шехер) и близ него в начале XX века. Главный герой романа — Али хан Ширваншир является потомком старинного аристократического рода Ширванширов. Учась в бакинской гимназии, Али хан знакомится с дочерью грузинского князя Нино Кипиани и влюбляется в неё. Через любовь к грузинской княжне Нино, которая была воспитана в христианской традиции, Али всё больше приближается к европейскому миру. Заканчивается роман тем, что Али хан заставляет Нино взять их дочь и уехать в Тифлис. Но сам Али хан остаётся в Гяндже, не желая бросить родину в трудную минуту. Во время боёв на Гянджинском мосту он погибает. Судьба Нино остаётся неизвестной.
