Dr. Jernail S. Anand, the doyen of the world literary scene and top-ranking figure of Indian literature, will be honoured by the Association of Serbian Writers, Belgrade, with Charter of Morava, an International Award for his Creativity and his name will be engraved on the Poet’s Rock, placed in the heart of Serbia, during his forthcoming visit to Serbia where he will be a Guest for the 60th Belgrade International Writers Meeting from 20-23 Oct 2023, the most important and longest running annual event in Serbia and the region.
Anand, who has authored 152 books, and has established the International Academy of Ethics, was conferred the Honorary Membership of the Serbian Writers Association, Belgrade, which is a rare honour in itself.
The event which is expected to direct the eyes of the public towards Serbia which continuously and equally when it comes to quality, conducts a literary dialogue with world cultures, gifting the world a Nobel Laureate Mr. Ivo Andric [1961]. On the occasion of this jubilee, Belgrade turns into the capital of world literature.
Other major guests attending this International Meet are Tea Obreht from USA, Sirazidina Sajida from Uzbekistan, and Italian writer Dante Maffia. The meeting will be a rendezvous for an exchange with Minister of Culture, Govt of Serbia and the City Mayor, including guest appearance on the national television.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sh. Rabindra Nath Tagore was invited to the same event in 1926, after he got the Nobel Prize.
Dr. Anand, who lives in Zirkpur, Punjab, who has won awards like Cross of Peace, Cross of Literature, [Italy[ World Icon of Peace [Nigeria], Art4 Life Award [US] Nazi Naman Award [Lebanon[ and Franz Kafka Award [Ukraine] has no recognition to show from either Punjab Govt. or the Govt. of India. This non-recognition of a great literary figure of our times who has authored 152 books including 9 epics by the govt. runs counter to all logic particularly, when he is considered the ‘greatest poet among philosophers and greatest philosopher among poets’ by icons of world literature like Dr. Maja Herman Sekulic, a Fulbright scholar from US-Serbia.
