DEAR FRIENDS IN THE SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES,
We are pretty sure you are playing your part in the overall development of the personality of your students. Still the major focus is on academics and marks are the measurement of a scholar’s success.
Are we making them scholars? Or men of great business sense? Society needs scholars and business men. But Life has different requirements. It needs them to be Good men, of great conduct, accomplished souls, who bring credit to your institution in the field of LIVING.
When somebody goes against social norms, we often say: It is ethical wrong. Have we ever taught our students what is Ethics and What is Wrong and Why it is wrong?
HONOUR IS THE SUBJECT OF OUR STORY. ARE WE LIVING HONOURABLY? WITH DIGNITY AND GRACE? OR JUST PULLING ALONG?
Our responsibility does not end with making them good scholars. Our responsibility extends to making them good human beings, with faith in the benevolence of cosmic forces, fostering love for creation, animals, birds, insects, plants. trees, waters, winds…for Nature which gives us a thousand boons.
Now you are teaching them Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Drawing, Arts, Physical Education, Sports, and a negligible part of Moral science.
If we want a better world, let us start with: ETHICS, followed by Physics. Chemistry etc Let us reverse the scales from SUCCESS to GOODNESS.
