“My journey into the realm of art” Hasura Akther Rumky from Bangladesh
My journey into the realm of art had been started when I was a child. When I was young, my father would take me to different art competitions and I received awards twice participating in The National Children’s Award Competition Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Dhaka from the prime minister!
From then on, I passionately dreamt of being a professional artist. My family wanted me to study medicine after my twelfth grade. Though I prepared for medical admission, I would personally fill up the admission form of the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka (DU). I got chance in both cases and finally I had to fight with my family to study Oriental Art at DU. I completed both my BFA (Honours) with MFA from the Department of Oriental Art, University of Dhaka.
After completing my MFA, I worked as an Assistant Coordinator at the Asian Art Biennale (Asia’s largest biennale) Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
My idol is Pablo Picasso! I believe he is a magician! His every series fascinates me! & in from our country renowned artist jamal Ahmed’s works also fascinate me his soft technique, wash on canvas!
I would work following the wash technique. I started practising acrylic painting , pastel and mixed media like with the natural colours, the soil.
I’m from a Muslim country where Women have to fight against the society to fulfill their dreams! & this opportunity is a blessing for me! “My paintings are all about me & my surroundings. My work is a constant endeavour to win freedom. Freedom from pain, frustration and decadence to the chariot of light.”
I love to portray the portraits as they ultimately express the inner feelings of the humans. In the exhibition there will be 17 paintings displayed! And hope I’ll get more love from their!
Thank you is not enough to say to the UNESCO action art club to giving me this opportunity!
